Erdogan, King Abdullah Meet in Istanbul to Bolster Turkey-Jordan Ties
The Jordanian leader was received at Istanbul’s Dolmabahce Palace, where the two heads of state first held a private discussion before chairing expanded meetings with their respective delegations.
Several senior Turkish officials took part in the discussions, including figures responsible for defense, foreign affairs, intelligence, and presidential advisory roles.
After the closed-door meeting, Erdogan received the Order of Al Hussein bin Ali, Jordan’s highest national decoration. According to official statements, it was "in recognition of his efforts to strengthen the deep historical ties and distinguished relations between the two countries."
Commenting after the ceremony, Erdogan said: “In today’s meetings with my dear brother, King Abdullah of Jordan, we made important decisions that will strengthen the friendship between our two countries.”
He noted that both leaders hold aligned positions on the importance of promoting peace, security, and stability throughout the region, and he praised Jordan’s role in protecting the holy sites in East Jerusalem.
Erdogan also expressed appreciation for the honor, describing it as a “concrete manifestation of the deep historical ties” linking the two nations.
“I believe that this exceptional order will further strengthen our long-standing brotherhood and friendship," he added.
For his part, King Abdullah emphasized Türkiye’s contributions to easing regional tensions and underscored its support for preserving the sovereignty of states across the Middle East.
“We remain committed to working with you for a more peaceful Middle East,” he said.
