Tucker Carlson Gets Briefly Detained in Israel After US Envoy Interview
Carlson had traveled to Tel Aviv to meet with US Ambassador Mike Huckabee for an in-person discussion. The meeting came after a public disagreement online concerning Israel’s policies toward Christians, with Huckabee inviting Carlson to speak face-to-face.
As stated by reports, soon after the interview concluded, airport security officials collected the passports of Carlson and his team. His executive producer was reportedly escorted to another area for additional questioning.
Describing the incident, Carlson said: "Men who identified themselves as airport security...demanded to know what we spoke to Ambassador Huckabee about," Carlson told the outlet. "It was bizarre. We're now out of the country."
However, a spokesperson for the US Embassy in Israel disputed the characterization of events, indicating that Carlson had not been detained but had instead passed through standard passport checks. The spokesperson noted that the same procedure applies to "countless visitors to Israel, including Ambassador Huckabee and other diplomats."
According to reports, requests for comment were directed to both the White House and the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, though no immediate statements were issued.
